My days as an editor for fine-jewelry trade mags introduced me to the high-priced, flashy world of platinum, diamonds and fashionable jewels that make your mouth water. I've stayed in the loop and kept an eye on a handful of designers that are branching out from the pricey couture lines to produce more affordable, sterling silver collections. Here's what designer Leslie Greene has to say about her foray into this market:

D~ What led you to launch a sterling collection?
LG~ "I wanted to offer a collection that reflected the same sophisticated, luxurious, and high-quality design aesthetic as my Couture line, but in sterling silver, as well as also open Leslie Greene up to an untapped contemporary price category. Additionally, as a designer, it has given me the opportunity to take more risks with designs, allowing me to showcase more trendsetting pieces, which are inspired by all the things I love— travel, fashion, architecture, etc."

D~ What are some of your favorite pieces in this line?
LG~ "I truly love the entire collection—just like every woman, I am a fashion chameleon, and I feel that there are a range of looks that complement every type of style occasion. If I had to choose one design, it would be cuffs, as they make a bold statement, finish every outfit and add a sexy style twist. I also love my reversible pendants that create two totally different looks depending on the side you wear it on."

D~ What do you typically wear with these pieces?
LG~ "The beauty about this collection is its versatility. The designs can take you from jeans and a great top, which go from day to evening, to the slacks and a sweater you wear to the office, or that flowy dress you love to wear in the Hamptons."

Padma Jewelry Collection
